Call for Applications: Appointment of College Council Donor Member

In line with Section 10(4)(d) of the Continuing Education and Training (CET) Act, 2006 (as amended), the College Council of Mopani Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) College hereby invites applications from interested and competent individuals who wish to contribute to skills development in South Africa by serving as a Donor Member of the College Council. The Term of Office shall be in accordance with the current term of the College Council, ending 30 June 2029.

Kindly take note that the appointment is subject to concurrence by the Minister of Higher Education and Training.

Purpose:The Donor Member will represent the interests of donors and development partners on the College Council. Key responsibilities include:

  • Contributing to and supporting the College’s strategic plan.
  • Promoting a culture of collaboration, creativity, and community engagement within the College.
  • Advising the Principal on fundraising opportunities, prospective donors, and strategies to expand the donor base.
  • Providing guidance on fundraising efforts to secure financial support through individual giving, corporate partnerships, sponsorships, and contributions.
  • Supporting institutional resource mobilization, donor stewardship, and community engagement initiatives.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Educational Background: A Bachelor’s Degree in Public Administration, Public Relations, Marketing, Fundraising, or a related field.
  • Professional Experience: A minimum of three (3) years of successful experience in development and fundraising for recognized public institutions.
  • Sector Knowledge: Demonstrated knowledge of community engagement, donor stewardship, and institutional relevance within the TVET or broader post-school education and training sector.

Eligibility Criteria

A South African citizen or a company incorporated under South African law; must be registered and in good standing with the South African Revenue Service (SARS); must have previously donated a significant value of movable and/or immovable assets to the institution or sector; must not be under investigation for money-related transactions or financial misconduct; must not be under administration, insolvency, or business rescue proceedings; and must not have a conflict of interest with the College or be conducting any business with the College.

The candidate must reside within a reasonable distance from the College (within the Mopani District). This ensures they reflect the knowledge and interests of the surrounding communities while minimizing travel and accommodation costs related to Council and committee meetings.

Applications and nominations must be submitted using the official nomination and declaration of interest forms obtainable from the Mopani TVET College website (www.mopanicollege.edu.za) or on request from Mrs. ME Mokgope at 015 781 5721/25. Applications must be accompanied by a detailed Curriculum Vitae (CV), certified copies of qualifications and a certified copy of the applicant’s Identity Document (ID), not older than three (3) months.

Written nominations may be sent/delivered to the office of the Principal:Mopani TVET College, Private Bag X01024, Phalaborwa, 1390 or hand delivered at Mopani TVET College, Corporate Office, Corner Combretum & Haarlem Street, Phalaborwa, 1390.

The College reserves the right to verify all information provided in the applicant’s CV and may invite shortlisted applicants for an interview. Successful applicant will be formally notified once the appointment process has been finalized by the Department.
