EXTERNAL ADVERT: ICT STEERING COMMITTEE CHAIRPERSON

Mopani Technical and Vocational Education and Training College hereby invites suitably qualified individuals to serve as College ICT Steering Committee Chairperson. The term of office shall be in accordance with the current term of the College Council, ending on 30 June 2029, and in line with the provisions of Section 51(1) of the Public Finance Management Act, 1 of 1999.

JOB SUMMARY

The ICT Steering Committee Chairperson shall assist the Accounting Officer in discharging oversight responsibilities and provide strategic leadership of the ICT governance through the alignment of the ICT objectives and goals with the overall outcomes and outputs of the organisation.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Promote the effective use of ICT within Mopani TVET College.
  • Provide leadership and guidance in the development and implementation of ICT policies to ensure effective deployment and provision of ICT infrastructure and services within Mopani TVET College.
  • Identify risks associated with ICT and provide risk mitigation actions.
  • Lead the process of reviewing the current and future ICT infrastructure requirements to improve the efficiency of ICT resources.
  • Promote effective oversight responsibility of the ICT environment with Mopani TVET College by ensuring that people, technology, processes, and information are integrated.
  • Ensure the ethical and responsible use of the ICT equipment and services through established internal policies.
  • Guide the process of developing and implementing the disaster recovery plan and ensure continued operations in case of disaster.
  • Ensure that the College develops and implements the ICT governance framework, strategy and plan.
  • Submit quarterly reports to the ICT Committee as well as the Audit and Risk Committee on the implementation of the ICT projects and recommend changes and improvements to be put in place.

REQUIREMENTS

  • A minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, or any related qualification at NQF Level 7.
  • A Post-Graduate qualification in Information Technology or any related qualification will be highly advantageous.
  • Industry-related certification, such as ITIL, COBIT, CGEIT/CRISC/CISA, ISO 27001/CISSP/CISM will be an added advantage.
  • Membership of ICT or related professional bodies will be advantageous.
  • The candidate must have at least 8 years of experience in an ICT role at a Senior Management level gained within the public or private sector organisation.
  • Demonstrable understanding of ICT governance used in both the public and private.
  • Understanding of information and knowledge of management principles and corporate governance principles.
  • Proven knowledge and experience as an ICT Steering Committee member is advantageous.
  • Proven knowledge and experience in ICT Management, ICT Security, ICT Governance, ICT Architecture, Digital Transformation, ICT Audit and Risk Management, ICT-related legislation and industry standards.
  • Knowledge of the Public Finance Management Act, Treasury Regulations and legislation regulating Information Communication and Technology, and ICT Governance framework in the private or public sector.
  • The candidate must have knowledge of management principles, good communication skills and ethics, knowledge of corporate governance principles, inquisitiveness and professional judgement.
