Call for applications: Appointment of one (1) External College Council member.
In line with Section 10(6) of the Continuing Education and Training (CET) Act, 2006 (as amended), the College Council of Mopani Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) College hereby invites interested and competent individual who wish to contribute to skills development in our country, to apply to serve as College Council member. The term of office shall be in accordance with the current term of College Council, ending 30 June 2029.
Kindly take note that the appointment is subject to concurrence by the Minister of Higher Education and Training.
Criteria for nomination:
In line with Section 10 (6) of the CET Act 16 of 2006, the College seeks to appoint one (1) Council member with a broad spectrum of competencies in Higher Education and Training, and TVET sector, in Finance, Audit & Risk and Information Technology. Have a recognised qualification NQF Level 8. A nominee should have a minimum of five (5) years’ experience in a senior or executive management position or an oversight committee.
- Expected responsibilities:
Individuals are to be nominated by virtue that they can give expression to ensure that:
- i) the functions of the council are performed according to the highest standard;
- ii) are broadly representative of the TVET sector and its related interests;
iii)Â have a thorough knowledge and understanding of the TVET sector;
- iv) they appreciate the role of the reconstruction of the TVET sector and development and demonstrate a clear understanding of the Government trajectory about the sector as outlined in the National Development Plan: Vision for 2030;
- v) ensure that members contribute to the strategic direction of the college by providing knowledge and experience in strategic planning, including the development and implementation of college strategy aimed at achieving short, medium- and long-term goals;
- vi) have experience in fundraising and establishing partnerships and linkages with industry.

All nominations must be made on the nomination forms and accompanied by a completed declaration of interest form obtainable from Mopani TVET College website (www.mopanicollege.edu.za) or on request from Mrs. ME Mokgope at 015 781 5721/25. Applications must be accompanied by a detailed Curriculum Vitae (CV), certified copies of qualifications, and a certified copy of the applicant’s identity document (not older than 3 months).
(NB): The nominated candidate must reside within reasonable distance from the college (within Mopani District) in order to reduce costs related to the council and council committee meetings in-terms of travel and accommodation and reflect the knowledge and interests of the surrounding communities.
